About the artists:
JESUS CARMONA
Jesus Carmona first expressed an interest in dance at the age of four and started his formal flamenco training at the age of seven. He earned a degree in Spanish and flamenco dance from the Theater Institute of Dance in Barcelona, and has studied with some of the great masters of flamenco, including Antonio Canales, El Güito, Rafael Amargo and Manolete. In 2006 he became the principal dancer of the prestigious Ballet Nacional de España and also performed with such prominent companies as the Nuevo Ballet Español.
In 2011, Jesus received the trophy for best choreography at the Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid and the trophy for most promising dancer at the Festival del Cante de las Minas, both critical wins for any aspiring flamenco performer. He won the Desplante prize for dance at La Unión in 2012.
Jesus has staged three shows with his company to great acclaim. His first show, Cuna Negra y Blanca, received outstanding reviews and was performed at the Bienal de Sevilla 2012, Danza, Madrid 2012, and the Jerez Festival and the Flamenco Arts Festival in Santa Barbara, California in 2013. His next work, 7 Balcones, premiered in 2013, and received 3 nominations at Spain’s Premios Max Awards. Jesus is currently touring with his latest show, Ímpetu’s.
Jesus’ precise technique, together with a mastery of the flamenco styles and a very personal and powerful aesthetic sense, makes him one of the most acclaimed dancers and choreographers in the flamenco world.

She has danced as a soloist with the companies of the Foundation of Antonio Gades, Rojas y Rodriguez, Maria Pages, and Jesús Carmona, and at the Ballet Nacional de España under the direction of Antonio Najarro. She has performed in important international and national festivals such as the Festival of Jerez and the Bienal de Sevilla, and is a featured dancer at the most prestigious tablaos in Spain.
